WHAT IS HLB?

The most serious threat to citrus growing today

Huanglongbing (HLB), yellow dragon or citrus greening is the most serious threat to citrus growing worldwide due to its complexity, destructiveness and difficulty of management.

It is a bacterial disease that limits citrus production. It affects the transport of organic and inorganic nutrients within the tree.

It is transmitted by insect vectors, namely two: African citrus psyllid or Trioza erytreae; and Asian citrus psyllid or Diaphorina citri.

PREVENTION

How can we detect it?

The symptomatology of HLB is present in 2 parts: on the leaves and on the fruit of citrus trees. By looking at these symptoms we can know if the tree is infected, but to fully corroborate this we must carry out a PCR test.
